Bury Hit Seven

Liverpool Sefton IV... 0
BGSOB..........................7
Waywell (3)
Ainscow (4)

The Old Boys continued their good form with a seven nil win away at Liverpool Sefton.

With top scorer Cooke missing Mark Waywell and Joe Ainscow stepped into the breach to bag all seven goals between them.

Waywell opened the scoring early on as Bury started quickly. Following two excellent saves, the Sefton keeper was finally beaten at the third attempt as Waywell drilled in a fierce shot that found the net. Shortly afterwards a well worked short corner found Ainscow unmarked at the far post as he doubled Bury’s lead.

Mid way through the half Waywell extended the lead as he produced a superb piece of close control to beat the Sefton keeper on the by-line before slotting the ball confidently into the net.
The second half brought four further goals as Bury’s passing game created some superb opportunities. Waywell completed his hat-trick with a neat finish following a clever Dave Matthews pass, as the Old Boys put together another flowing move.

Not to be out done Joe Ainscow then scored a second half hat-trick of his own. Firstly the striker was on hand to turn in a rebound, which had cannoned off the post. Next he grabbed his third goal following a scrambled short corner, which saw the ball trickle over the line despite the efforts of the Sefton goalkeeper.

Finally, the young striker scored his fourth of the day, with a well worked team goal. Good interplay on the right hand side saw the ball eventually crossed in, and Ainscow was on hand to sweep home for the game’s final goal.

Credit must go to Sefton who played the game in an excellent spirit, despite being on the wrong end of the scoreline. Cheers lads.

Squad: Heaton, Todd, S. Sheikh, T. Sheikh, Hillary, Matthews, McManus, Berry, Foster, Waywell, Ainscow, Robinson, Wright, Powers.
